This image was taken in Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation on a cold December day. I stayed in Monument Valley for a few days and hired a Navajo guide in an old vehicle who would take me to special places to shoot. On a dirt road leaving Mystery Valley, I passed these two donkeys and I noticed they were looking at us passing by. I asked the guide to go back and he obliged. These wild donkeys were very cooperative and did not run away, but one was not very interested in being photographed. This experience with wildlife made me think about my experience in Africa photographing zebras.
