R.C. Albin Biography

Richard Albin resides in Central New Mexico and has been professionally creating artistic rock furniture since 1999. His ergonomic rock furniture grew from his outdoor passion of rock climbing. Continually surrounded by the beauty and magnificence of cliffs and boulders, Albin translates the immenseness of stone to jewels of comfort for the everyday man.

While climbing one day, Albin rested on a large boulder for a space of time. Amazed at the comfort of the granite stone, an idea began to form of creating sculptured rock furniture for everyone, even for flatlanders to enjoy.

Over time, he experimented with different types of stones to achieve the optimal comfort level for his sculptural furniture. Combined with different finishes of steel, Albin finally achieved his one of kind creations. Just as there are no two rocks alike, each designed piece of Albin's rock furniture is unique. Comfort and life-long durability are not the only standards for his work. Whimsical, inviting, conversation starters, and general conviviality are also hallmarks of his work. Each piece is signed by the artist and appointed a special name signifying its origin or place of creative reference. From red sandstone to the earth-fired quartzite of granite and marble, Albin continues to understand and interpret what it means to "stop and rest awhile."
